This is, after all, the brand that for many years held a Hairy Chest Contest around the pool deck on every voyage, to a standing-room-only, hooting and hollering crowd. Carnival ships are all about fun in a very laid-back, unpretentious, nothing-too-fancy sort of way. The Carnival Fantasy was built in 1990, but has been significantly refurbished several times since then and looks great. Mikhaila's room had a closet with hangers and two chests of drawers on each side of the bed left open for her when she arrived.

HAVANA INTERIOR
The younger children in this age range (12-14) are grouped into what's known as Circle C and have their own dedicated lounge on ships. It's a place to get together to talk, watch movies, play video games and take part in other activities. While the free programming ends at 10 p.m., you can pay extra to leave your kids at Camp Ocean until 1 a.m. During those hours, Camp Ocean transforms into a supervised slumber party-type environment with games, movies, crafts and snacks, along with late-night parties called Night Owls. In short, there's a ton to do up top on Carnival vessels — and it's almost all available to every passenger on board the vessels at no extra charge (the roller coaster is the only exception).

CARNIVAL EXCEL PRESIDENTIAL SUITE
Thankfully our neighbors weren’t party animals and didn’t spend much time in their room, so the noise wasn’t bad. There were a number of things you’d expect in the cabin, including a flat-screen TV with remote, in-room safe, a controllable thermostat, a mini-fridge, telephone, and a full-size closet for hanging clothes. You also have the option of pushing them together to form one king-sized bed. Here is everything you need to know about cabins onboard Carnival Cruise Line. While the majority of the fun will be located outside of your stateroom, you still want a comfortable “home away from home” that you can return to each evening and rest for the next day’s adventure.
Please view our advertising policy and product review methodology for more information. Your room will have four walls and no windows offering a glimpse of the outside world. The line's two newest ships, Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration, each have 180 suites — more than twice the number found on the vessels Carnival was unveiling a few years ago. Unlike some of its biggest competitors, Carnival isn't known for a huge range of cabin categories on its vessels.

Otherwise, the room is a fairly standard Interior layout and will have two twin beds that can be converted into a King, as well as some rooms having extra Pullmans or sofa beds for kids. The smaller Interior rooms don’t leave you a lot of floor space with a twin or double bed in there, but they are some of the cheapest you can book on a modern cruise line. An Interior stateroom on a cruise ship is one that is normally located on the inside of a ship away from the sides and does not have any windows. They’re normally the cheapest and smallest rooms on board and can sleep anywhere from 2 to 5 guests, depending on the cruise line.

On many cruise ships, inside cabins are smaller than oceanview and balcony cabins. On Carnival Panorama, for instance, most inside cabins measure 185 square feet. That's the same size as the interior area of some oceanview and most balcony cabins on the ship (not including the extra square footage from the balcony). Balcony staterooms were designed for maximum sea breeze and the most stunning views, so look to a balcony if you’re looking to cruise with a view aboard Mardi Gras.
Inside cabins are the basic and most affordable room you’ll find on a ship. On average, about 1/3 of the cabins on a Carnival cruise ship are inside cabins. On average, Carnival interior rooms are about 185 sq ft (roughly the equivalent of a 13′ x 14′ room).
Still, some of that has begun to change with the debut of Carnival's new Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration. Carnival went big with the suites on the groundbreaking, 5,282-passenger vessels — the biggest Carnival ships ever. As noted above, Carnival ships generally don't offer a lot of suites. For the most part, the suites they have are relatively modest in size and amenities compared to the suites at some of the line's rivals.
They’re not really any more spacious than a standard Interior, so you’re just getting a more premium version of the same room with access to that tranquil pool away from some of the noise of the family pools. The priority bookings for the other Cloud 9 Spa services only apply on day one – you can book for any point during the cruise, but once 6 pm hits on embarkation day those slots open up to all guests. These perks only apply to the first two guests in a Cloud 9 Spa room though, so if you’ve booked a room with three adults then someone has to miss out. The Thermal Suites include dry heat chambers, steam chambers and a hydrotherapy pool, which you can use at any time during the cruise.
As a guest in an interior room, I have access to all the same facilities as those in balcony or suite cabins. However, interior room benefits like Cloud 9 Spa or Havana Pool access are exclusive to their designated rooms. However, the Pullman beds, which are available in some Upper/Lower staterooms, may not be ideal for adults as they are smaller and less comfortable than the regular beds.
That said, given the complexity of booking a cruise — there are a lot of decisions to make during the booking process; trust us — we recommend you use a seasoned travel agent who specializes in cruises. Most onboard activities such as shows and deck-top attractions are included in the fare. A slightly more expensive "value" plan, at $19.55 per day when bought in advance, adds access to email and most websites. Unlike some lines, Carnival has resisted the trend of big-ship operators carving out whole sections of deck-top areas for the exclusive use of passengers staying in suites or willing to pay hefty access fees.
It doesn’t hurt to save some money and let Carnival assign your room, but don’t think you’ll get this great upgrade if you do. Guests staying in Havana sections have exclusive access to the Havana Pool area with prime placement on the back of the ship. The pool area has a beautiful infinity pool, two large hot tubs that overlook the ocean, upgraded loungers, and a dedicated outdoor bar. On sea days when the rest of the ship is jam-packed, you’ll be relaxing in style with plenty of room in the pool and loungers, and a nice refreshing drink only steps away. The rooms also conveniently connect to the interior Havana Bar, which is open to all guests. This bar becomes a favorite for many Havana guests for pre-dinner and late-night drinks.
